In 2021 Johanna began the Ojo del Sol project in Oaxaca de Juárez, Mexico. What began as a search for a new painting studio quickly became a community house with studio spaces for local and emerging artists in Oaxaca.

With a total of five studios, the house pulses with creativity. There are painters, musicians and tattoo artists that are in constant rotation with flexible rent options. To organize a visit, please send Johanna an email.

The house also currently has a fundraiser to improve lighting systems in the spaces, acquire a fridge, have more seating in the common areas and fix broken windows and bathroom fixtures. If you would like to support, please check out the GoFundMe page.
